Chris Antal, Intern Minister

Chris began as Intern Minister in September, and is also a Chaplain Resident at Albany Medical Center, and Chaplain Candidate in the New York Army National Guard. Before coming to Albany he completed a community-based internship at Westchester Medical Center. He taught ecumenism and interfaith for two years at Unification Theological Seminary in New York, served a year as editor at the National Human Rights Commission of South Korea in Seoul, and was an advocate for over four years supporting the Office of International Religious Freedom at the U.S. Department of State. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, holds graduate degrees from Unification Theological Seminary and Yonsei University in South Korea, and completed coursework at Meadville-Lombard in Chicago and Hartford Seminary in Connecticut. Chris is married to Mitsuko Ishikawa Antal and together they have five children.
Matt Edwards, Music Director

Matt has served as the music director of FUUSA for eight years.
He received his music degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and has a Master's Degree in Education from Walden University. Besides his work at FUUSA, Matt teaches choral music in Bennington, runs a piano studio in Greenwich, directs a community chorus in Cambridge, and performs with several local music groups. Matt is married to Mary Edwards, and is the proud father of Henry, Clara, and Oliver.
Amy Lent, Church Administrator

Amy has served the FUUSA community as Church Administrator since 2002, following other jobs in the non-profit sector although none have been "as close to her heart" as this. She earned a B.A in Communications at the University at Albany, and has lived in the Capital Region since 1981. Amy serves on the Board of the Association of Unitarian Universalist Administrators and also on the St. Lawrence District Growth Committee. She is rehabbing an 1890 farmhouse, landscaping an acre around it, and wishing her first grandchild lived a whole lot closer.
Leah Purcell, Director of Religious Education

Leah began serving as Director of Religious Education in 2007. She graduated Vassar with a degree in psychology and was a teacher, co-administrator and teaching assistant in both public and private schools. She also served in leadership roles supporting and organizing volunteers in various political and community organizations. Leah was an active volunteer in FUUSA’s Religious Education program prior to entering her position as DRE. She taught Sunday school, served on the Religious Education Council both as a member and as chair, served as a youth advisor and helped organize UUA sponsored youth programs. Currently, she is a member of the Liberal Religious Educators Association and is enrolled in the UUA’s Religious Education Credentialing Program.
David Stone, Administrative Assistant & Sexton

Dave has been with FUUSA for 18 years, both working in the office and managing the building and grounds. He has a B.A. from Syracuse University, and is a former teacher. He and his wife Sandy have lived in Albany since 1972. They have a son, Carl, and a daughter, Laura, plus 6 grandchildren.
